<p><p>I think that if people could afford a car, they wouldn't worry about the alternative. <p><p>You lost your bet with me Webbrowan. When one of the families fleet of cars was written off, it was not replaced. My Son and I share my 4WD, he drives it to his work and back, I use it only to tow my boat. My daily commute now is 23klm each way by bicycle. Mostly cycleways, it takes 55mins, compared to 40 (and up to 90) by car. I've lost 10kgs, no longer have any parking issues, and save $8K a year (that is more than I need for boat fuel).
