Hi Paul,

Your magazine has a great article on how to live on a mix of Super pension and aged pension.
This is all well and good if we have a magic pill that makes us stay exactly in the same condition when we retire at 67.
But we don't....we keep ageing.
The end game could be passing away in our sleep...good and can be done at home.
The end game though for a lot of people means Aged care....not retirement villages but Aged care and aged care for anything other than basic government provided services...shared rooms....shared bathrooms....basic meals....shared entertainment is what a person would end up with seeking to minimise their positions to maximise a mix of Super and Aged pension.
Alternatively a person or couple should be able to plan for Aged care of a reasonable standard....room with an ensuite.....tv....A/C...decent meals dignity...etc.......This means an Accommodation bond.
Not enough is publicly known about accommodation bonds and how to ensure you are able to meet them.
I believe that as many as 25% of couples would require the use of an accommodation bond average is about $500,000
In my view this is the cat amongst the pidgeons.....how does one set aside this sort of money for the 80 to 90 yo age group without penalty and yet achieve the magic pudding mix of 265000 super and aged pension ?

Reply to article

For original story, Click Here.
