Hi Paul (& Whitney),

As a recently divorced 38 year old male, I was delighted to see the topic of this letter. A lot of recently separated & divorced parents can be quite overwhelmed by the whole process from the change in living arrangements through navigating lawyers and finally making plans for the future.

My personal opinion is very similar to Paul's. Having a property to live in, in retirement is crucial to a medium/long term plan & some type of financial security.

Although not privy to the age of Whitney's children, I think this has a very large role in near term, medium & long term financial planning.

If the children are under 10 years of age, a stable residential situation should be top of the list as they'll need this for 8-10 years. Once they leave home, more job opportunities and increased earning employment capacity is much easier to seek.

I would really love to see many more articles on the topic of how people have navigated family breakdowns and any tips they can share with other readers.

Regards
