I like the Australian way, everyone gets paid a good decent wage and no one needs to feel obligated to fork out some magical number on top of what the price of entry is.

I enjoy the fact that the Australian economy sets a standard where wages are 'liveable'. I would hate that this could ever cha be. I don't know how an affluent society can justify paying people $2.13/hour, that is just not right.

I think travellers should understand the imolicatiins of tipping as in US it is for survival,in Cuba you are creating wealth for thise in tourism,in Asia its not the norm and tourists are deemed wealthy whilst tipping those in tourism whilst others starve,best to give your money to help the homeless or needy

As an Australian citizen living in the US "the richest country in the world", I absolutely hate that restaurant patrons are forced to pay the wages of servers, while restaurateurs pay their staff about $2-3 an hour (!!) and make absolute fortunes! It's a terrible system that I wish would go away. I wish restaurant staff in the U.S. would unionize and demand living wages and an end to this crazy system! I'm sure that it's the huge surge in American tourists to Australia and N.Z., with their lack of understanding that Australian restaurant staff actually make $20-35 an hour (depending on position), who are creating this expectation of tips among servers down under! I would hate to see this awful system become the norm in Australia.

Lets not change the no tipping culture of Australia citing Covid please. Govt payment plans are in place for those who are inpacted. Covid has impacted everyone. So lets keep Australia the way it is. Americans please write articles tgat may help your service industry workers from getting meagre $2!!!

NO ONE should be tipping in Australia, we have good wages now more than ever next to USA.. and any tip goes to the owner not staff. STOP DOING IT !

Sad day for Australia, My barber has you sit in front of a mirror with a sign on it saying, "tip the staff". The rotter has several barbers' shops, so instead of the tipping sign it may be time for profit sharing with his staff. I found the sign extremely anti Australian; we need to protect our values and the hard-won rights to a fair wage. If the owner of Jimmy Rods believes his staff deserve more money he can pay them more. If the rot sets in our kids could end up exploited and paid $2/hr. I'm taking my business elsewhere.
