What do these people do with the rest of their retired lives ? I am a self employed small sheep farmer and I enjoy what I do and have no intention of retiring until I am no longer able to do what I enjoy doing. I find the idea of no longer working and earning money just waiting to frit out what you have saved to be the opposite of living a good life. Perhaps some of these young retirees would like to come out to the bush and see what it is like to live and work with nature.

Reply to article

For original story, Click Here.

I guess FIRE applies to those who don't like the work they do. When you have a passion for your work, it's not something you want to retire from.

Reply to article

For original story, Click Here.

FIRE is the way to go especially with the growing population and challenges in job creation in most countries in the world. I would suggest that many people get informed .This would lead to early investiment and FIRE.

Do early retirees have private health insurance? I am a recently retired teacher, 60 in good health. I don't have a massive superannuation but enough to live on if we are careful. I have question in relation to private health cover. With recent increases my hospital cover now costs us nearly $5,000 per year. Should I keep it or is it time to ditch it. What do you think?

Reply to article

For original story, Click Here.

Like my father Duncan, you are not so much in a job as living a lifestyle, some would even call it a form of retirement, you are living life at your pace not what is expected of you by a 9 to 5 job or a boss.

I would say my Dad basically never worked a day in his life, he did what he enjoyed and that consumed him from sunrise to sunset, 7 days a week including christmas day and that fed and clothed us. he did that till he was in his late 80's when a car accident put him in a nursing home.

Live a long and prosperous life.

Reply to article

For original story, Click Here.

I day at the private hospital costs as little as A$1100. A$5000 that you pay in advance may cover 4 days. If you get sick or not you pay that amount in any way.

Worst case scenario there are goverment hospitals but I wouldn't rely much on them.

Reply to article

For original story, Click Here.

I like what I do I just like knowing I don't "have to do it" because I've got enough money to give me an income for the rest of my life. It's not about not liking what you do it's about being able to choose to work or not. It's about being free to choose your own life

Reply to article

For original story, Click Here.

Duncan, they can run a sheep farm like you if they like. Without the stress of droughts and worrying about having to make money. Nothing wrong with that.

Reply to article

For original story, Click Here.
