I was really disappointed by this.

Why are the only two options that people live at home for years or get a handout from their parents?

That just isn't an option for many of us.

It's fine for you to complain about house prices for your child but when you turn around and give her a deposit, it pushes property further out of reach for the rest of us.

How can you not see that you are part of the problem???

Reply to article

For original story, Click Here.

Housing finance may well have been 40% in 2016 but its well documented that formal reforms dropped that share significantly afterwards. Investor share of housing finance dropped 30% between early 2017 and early 2019 for example. I think some of your figures may be carefully selected so as to create the relevant background for your article. Why not use contemporary statistics?

Reply to article

For original story, Click Here.

I think you'll find that the reason for the drop in investor lending 2017-2019 was due to restrictions that came about from the banking royal commission.

Covid has given the government an excuse to scrap lending restrictions and slash interest rates to an all time low..

Throwing money at housing seems to be their only way to stimulate our garbage housing and mining economy

Reply to article

For original story, Click Here.

My daughter bought in Regional Vic for her first home and travelled 120ks a day to work for around 3 yrs. she then had enough equity to sell and move back from Regional "closer to work" now her new house is worth 750k to 800k and has a loan of $200k Lesson is you have to rearange your life to suit your budget.

Reply to article

For original story, Click Here.
