As a retired Primary Principal, who has taught literacy for many years, and still helps struggling children and adults, to see how simple English can be. I believe there is something wrong with the way many are being " taught". English is not a difficult language, when you understand how it works, so why are there still many failures, if the students are capable of better outcomes. In most cases, it is not their fault. Literacy must be taught, but the adults(parents and teachers), can do better when they have the requisite knowledge and passion themselves. It is not their fault either. It goes up the line.

Reply to article

For original story, Click Here.

Hi Paul,

While the Lost For Words TV program has ended, if someone you know needs support with literacy, you can refer them to the Reading Writing Hotline on 1300 6 555 06 or at readingwritinghotline.edu.au.
