The best way of keeping a warm is awnings that go on outside of a windows or a glass door as my house has. The material stops heat from going from warm area to a cooler area. So work during summer to keep room cooler that outside and in winter to stop condensation forming on West facing windows. I have this since August 2015 and it really works and cost $5000 and best investment in the house that has been done

Reply to article

For original story, Click Here.

Whilst I appreciate that bubble wrap can assist retain heat, it is not an environmentally friendly option. There must be a better option, recycled cardboard boxes for example. We should be looking for a win for both those struggling in these economically difficult times as well as for our planet.

Reply to article

For original story, Click Here.

Stop virtue signalling. The author clearly states you can use second-hand bubble wrap.

Reply to article

For original story, Click Here.

I've always wondered about those awnings, Tom - do they stop the sun getting in and warming rooms during winter months?

Reply to article

For original story, Click Here.

The idea is to buy or obtain once and reuse each year or leave up permanently. There are far more wasteful products than bubble wrap. I wouldn't use cardboard as it could become damp and promote mould growth.
Even if bubble wrap is not sustainable, the use to reduce greenhouse gas emissions due to excessive heating and cooling would far outweigh the cost on the environment of producing the bubble wrap especially if used for say 3years or more.
Cardboard would also block out light during the day and cause increased energy consumption by using lights during the day.

Reply to article

For original story, Click Here.
