I have been advised that with the new changes that Labor wants to introduce, they plan to prevent us from withdrawing our superannuation in a lump sum, instead, we will be forced to accept weekly payments. There is also talk that they are removing the death benefit, so this could potentially mean that the balance of our super will go to the government and not our chosen beneficiary? Is this true, and if so when do you think it will come into effect as we are due to have access in just over 3 years?

Reply to article

For original story, Click Here.

Successive governments, of both persuasions and the Treasury, have been drooling over the Superannuation treasure trove for decades. I think that they will gradually get their hands on that treasure one way or another. When, will be in the lap of the gods. It will probably be sooner rather than later. Either way that control will be out of our hand and we will not be given any notice.

Reply to article

For original story, Click Here.
