People have been living in multigenerational families for most of history, and in many countries, including some advanced ones, still do. The members shared resources and expenses and cared for each other in economically and socially efficient ways. The current custom of dropping infants into daycare, kicking the kids out at 18, and letting Grandma live all by her lonesome with a gadget around her neck is a recent one.

If multigenerational family structures are becoming more common, it's just a return to the norm.

Reply to article

For original story, Click Here.

Yes and the independence thing only works out if there is a sufficient amount of housing available for people to each have their own household. Right now, there is not. It's actually an act of love to society if people who can live in multigenerational households chose to do so. If there's less competition, rents will be more affordable for those who don't live near family and must pay rent.

Reply to article

For original story, Click Here.
