<p><p>Timeframes for chargebacks aren&#39;t actually relevant. Generally if a consumer is making a chargeback its usually because of a violation of the Consumer Act on the part of a retailer and if the consumer is entitled to a refund under those terms of the Consumer Act (the goods become faulty etc) then the chargeback MUST be accepted OR that would constitute a violation of the Consumer Act ie unlawfully denying a refund.<p>This is also the case for making claims under the purview of a statutory warranty whereby a consumer is entitled to a refund WITHOUT LIMITATION upon timeframe so long as its reasonable. For the retailer its basically impossible to verify that a consumer&#39;s claim ISN&#39;T reasonable and therefore the chargeback would need to be paid. This is why retailers must ensure the products they are selling are good quality and must be taught a lesson to stop ripping consumers off.<p>Use chargebacks where-ever needed and if it is denied - complain over and over again until the card issuer becomes sick of your complaining and gives in anyway. It takes a lot of time and effort to investigate a chargeback - so use that to your advantage.<p>Consumer rights MUST be protected and stamp out the practice of selling poor quality / not fit for purpose products that seems to have become the norm.</p></p><p><a href="">Reply to article</a></p><p>For original story, <a href="">Click Here.</a></p>

<p><p>I used my ANZ Visa credit card to buy seats on a flight from Bonza airline which were not honored because Bonza went bankrupt before the date of the flight. After submitting a proof of debt form to the liquidator, I lodged a chargeback form with ANZ Visa card company. After a couple of verifications and two weeks later, the amount lost was credited back to my credit card...no problems.
