When travelling in Ethiopia many years ago our tour guide said water aid and food aid were charities which were worth donating to as they both seemed to do a lot of good work in the country and throughout Africa, also Medicines sans Frontiers were prominent there, getting out in the local communities . You like to think your donation actually helps people and doesn't get absorbed into administration fees.
