The prices for listing and advertising a property on realestate.com.au are outrageous! Real estate agents tried to force us to accept the highest tier and borrow money to 'present' our property - absolute extortion.
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has announced it is in the early stages of an investigation into REA Group, the $33 billion operator of realestate.com.au, over concerns about competition in the real estate industry.
The investigation comes as the News Corp-controlled real estate advertising service has told customers it would increase subscription prices for real estate agents by as much as 78 per cent from July 1.

Reply to article

For original story, Click Here.

So, we have a business that has done exceptionally well and the ACCC can't have that, can they ? Oh no. Well, it IS a free market, and if you don't want to pay for the highest tier, don't complain if your house doesn't sell. There's always other portals (such as Domain), you don't HAVE to use REA.
Obviously, they are doing something well, because their ROE is around 30% and agents accept the price. Maybe join the party and own the stock, like some of us (me) did at $10 because we saw what a great company it was ?

Reply to article

For original story, Click Here.
