This will also push up the price for those who try to help Wimmin fleeing violent men by using CASH. These Wimmin need cash to get away from him - or he can track her, or even put a stop on the card so she has no way of paying for anything. Homeless people also cannot use credit cards. Oh and young people fresh out of school. Try getting a credit card. Oh and yes...when the EFTPOS machines go down and no one can buy anything. KEEP USING CASH - think of the people who need it. And if you are too lazy to go get some cash, then you are pushing the cost of your card usage onto those who do use cash. Unfair all around!

Reply to article

For original story, Click Here.

Very little "Truth" in this one-sided article whatsoever.
This is simple - surcharges are an attempt for certain businesses to steal from customers and engage in fraud. Yes you heard me right.
ALL businesses MUST advertise their pricing on an even keel and NOT attempt to compete unfairly with their competitors who incorporate ALL their costs in the advertised price as they should. For example two cafe's each advertising $5 coffee's but one "hides" a surcharge (usually with a small hard to see sign) of let's say 20 cents. Well then - those two cafe's are NOT selling their coffee's for $5 are they ! One is trying to cheat by charging $5.20 and that's unacceptable.
Oh and the threat that businesses will simply put up their prices ? Go ahead and see where that lands you. You'll lose business as customers exercise their rights under the economic laws of supply and demand and you'll go out of business.
Small businesses and most especially those in the food and drink service industry need to have a good hard look at themselves - the prices they charge nowadays are utter rip-offs and they expect their customers to pay for the fact that often - they can't run their businesses efficiently.
Lastly complaining about merchant fee's and bank fee's etc - then band together and have your industry lobby groups do something about it with those banks and credit providers. DON'T think customers will simply foot the bill for you - we won't !

Reply to article

For original story, Click Here.

It is illegal for any business not to prominently display any card surcharges.
Customers should never be surprised by a surcharge fee.
https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/pricing/card-surcharges

Reply to article

For original story, Click Here.
