It would be lovely if Qantas had a login password and 2FA apart from only the 4 digit PIN. Very antiquated.

Reply to article

For original story, Click Here.

MFA is a major problem because companies often ONLY allow MFA using a mobile telephone. SMS is *not* secure, often using insecure SS7 networks. 1.7 million adult Australians do NOT even have a mobile telephone! SOme are not in mobile reception area. Some have disabilities which prevent use of a mobile. Some cannot afford the ridiculously high cost of a mobile (per month fees plus the handset). Some do not even need one - they have internet access at home with a computer so they can use a big screen to be able to actually see what is on the screen and use VOIP to make calls or even webex/ Teams which is more secure than answering a call which can be spoofed. Companies SHOULD provide more secure methods such as RSA dongles (tokens which send a OTP). Or even DESKTOP computer authenticators. Mobiles are expensive, easily hacked or stolen. Many people have no virus protection on their mobile. THey download things which secretly access the data in your mobile. It is a massive invasion of privacy.

Reply to article

For original story, Click Here.
