Not so, depends on the State you are in and your public holiday legislation.
Victoria and South Australia do not automatically get April 27th off; it's only a public holiday if it is the OBSERVED day for a holiday like Australia Day.
On ANZAC Day (April 25th), there's generally no extra day off when it falls on a weekend, unlike some other places like the ACT.
In 2026, ANZAC Day is a Saturday, so April 27th, 2026, will see the ACT get the public holiday, but Victoria does not.
In summary,
ANZAC Day (April 25th): Commemorated on the day, no extra day off in Victoria as it is a weekend. Same in South Australia (as per SafeWork SA website, IAW Holidays Act 1901). I believe NSW is the same.
25 April is a public holiday regardless of what day of the week it falls. There is no substitute or additional public holiday when 25 April falls on a Saturday or Sunday in many States and Territories.
Australia Day: Falls on Monday, Jan 26th in 2026, so no extra day.

Reply to article

For original story, Click Here.
