Faxing is a little antiquated these days and even running a document through an inefficient scanner can be clunky and arduous. So why not make the most of your smartphone and turn it into a multi-page scanner?

Smartphone apps

Once you have downloaded the app, all you have to do is take a photo of the document and store or email it as a PDF, JPEG or PNG. You have the option of scanning in black and white or colour.

I've found the quality of the PDF very good - in fact, probably better than my scanner at home (taking into consideration its age).

The customer rating on iTunes is five stars with tech specialists cnet.com giving the app 3.5 stars (very good). Tech site zdnet.com also lists TurboScan as a "must-have iOS, Android productivity app" and says that "processing is quick and you can control brightness, orientation, colour and size of scanned items".
