Home wireless broadband offers a swift, convenient and hassle-free alternative to conventional fixed-line broadband services such as the NBN.

As an illustration, Telstra, the winner this year, delivers remarkably high download speeds, especially during the typically busy browsing hours between 7pm and 11pm.

According to Martin McGrath, consumer executive, Telstra, 5G Home Internet - 1TB uses the 5G mobile network to connect customers to the internet.

"That means lightning-fast 5G speeds at your home with typical download speeds that will let most people make a video call, search the web and stream tunes and videos on multiple devices, all at once," says McGrath.

5G is a wireless network that relies on antennas to send data to 5G-enabled devices or modems using radio waves, eliminating the need for physical cables running to your residence.

In contrast, NBN data is delivered through physical wires and cables that are connected to your house or apartment.

According to McGrath, whether a wireless broadband service matches the speed of NBN broadband relies on the NBN technology accessible at a customer's location and their plan.
