If you're over 60 you may be eligible for a seniors card, which will give you access to benefits provided by government and businesses.

Eligibility criteria vary slightly in each state and territory. Most states require you to be over 60, be a permanent resident and be retired or work no more than a certain number of hours a week.

In NSW you have to work no more than 20 hours a week in paid employment, but in Victoria and Queensland you can work a little more (no more than 35 hours a week).

The benefits also vary.

In WA seniors card holders get discounts on water services and rates as well as discounts at various stores. South Australian seniors card holders get discounts on council rates, free Adelaide Metro public transport on weekends, public holidays and 9.01am to 3pm Monday to Friday, as well as discounts on products and services, including hospitality, retail, sport, accommodation, travel, commercial services, insurance, entertainment, further education, health and fitness.

For more information on eligibility, benefits and how to apply go to seniorscard.com.au and choose your state or territory.
