Best of the Best 2025: Best-Value Luxury Electric Car
By Money Team
The BMW iX1 xDrive30 AWD has been named Money's Best-Value Luxury Electric Car as part of the Best of the Best awards.
In years gone by, an electric luxury car would have instantly been categorised as expensive.
But BMW has taken the bold approach of offering a host of electric cars below the Luxury Car Tax (LCT), in turn offering FBT exemptions for customers who may never otherwise have been able to justify buying a luxury-branded product.
Our gold winner, then, is the BMW iX1 xDrive30 AWD, which sneaks in just under $85,000 before on-roads, but if you don't need all-wheel drive there's an even cheaper version. It's a cleverly packaged car, ticks the SUV box, has decent EV range, and the interior design and tech are approachable, too.
It just pipped the BMW i4 eDrive35 RWD, which could be a better fit for a single or a couple who want the more traditional luxury sedan stance. Some may not find it pretty, but its interior is delightful, it has ample grunt and it undercuts some internal-combustion alternatives by a huge margin.
And if you're a family-minded buyer who wants a larger SUV, the Polestar 3 Long Range Dual Motor is a stellar choice. With a huge claimed EV driving range and eco-credentials at its heart, this gorgeous electric vehicle may captivate you with its design, though it may frustrate you with some of its tech.
