The layout features a dynamic central display depicting the red heart of Australia with masses of native flora wrapping the unique landscape design.

The easy walks feature abundant native plants and beautiful water features representing the variety of regions around Australia. It's a relaxing day out for adults and the water features will keep the kids entertained. There's a cafe for lunch.

Vue Grand, Queenscliff

Located at the entrance to Port Phillip Bay and 90 minutes from Melbourne CBD, the magnificent hotel was established in 1881. Book the Turret suite, which boasts wide views over the charming town, Hesse Street and out to Port Phillip Bay.

It's an easy walk to the three museums, assorted galleries and shops. The Vue Grand restaurant is an elegant dining experience with a great regional wine list.

Sorrento

Catch the Searoad ferry from Queenscliff across the bay and on to the Mornington Peninsula.

It's a leisurely hour's trip to Sorrento and its limestone shopfronts. Browse the antique shops, galleries and fashion stores. The Sorrento pub has great seafood and views over the bay. There are plenty of spots to swim or hire a kayak in the warmer weather.

Heide Museum of Modern Art

The home of art patrons John and Sunday Reed at Bulleen, 20 minutes from the city, was also home to artists including Sidney Nolan, Albert Tucker, John Perceval and Joy Hester.

The original home showcases their work and the additional galleries promote living and emerging artists.

It's beautiful six-hectare parkland showcasing 30 stunning sculptures from artists including Anish Kapoor. You'll need to book for lunch at the cafe or order a picnic hamper and enjoy it in the garden.
