Loans to property investors continue to be the fastest growing segment of the market with a 22% surge in 2024 compared with a 6% increase in owner-occupied loans.
Macquarie Bank, winner of the Investment Property Lender of the Year for 2025, says it offers a range of products to support property investors - who account for 36% of its loan portfolio - at every stage of their journey.
"Flexibility is at the heart of Macquarie's home loan offering," says Ben Perham, head of personal banking at Macquarie. "Our products are designed to meet the unique needs of individual investors."
For those looking for a simple loan structure, a Macquarie home loan provides a straightforward solution with competitive rates, according to Perham.
The Offset Home Loan option provides greater flexibility for more experienced investors or those with a bigger property portfolio.
"This loan allows customers to add up to 10 offset accounts per variable interest rate loan account. These accounts can be used to receive rental payments or save for property-related expenses such as strata or council rates. This flexibility helps investors reduce the amount of interest they pay, making their investment more efficient," says Perham.
"A customer who owns their home and wants to use their equity to purchase an investment property can set up an owner-occupied and investment loan under one contract and lending limit.
"This structure allows them to manage their money more efficiently, with the flexibility to benefit from both fixed and variable rates."
Macquarie is always working on new digital features to give customers better insights and control over their finances, says Perham.
"Features like smart budgeting tools, automatic expense categorisation and detailed transaction tagging make it easier to manage investment-related cashflow and prepare for tax time."
And the Macquarie banking app gives customers a 24/7 view of all their accounts including offset accounts, says Perham.
An investor using an offset account to receive rental income and pay property-related expenses will see this in one place.
"Our customers can generate individual interest statements for each loan, upload receipts and tag transactions for tax purposes, create and manage up to 10 offset accounts linked to each loan account, and track their net wealth and cashflow in real time."
In second place, Commonwealth Bank, last year's winner, offers investors tailored loans with features such as repayment holidays, multiple offset accounts, redraw, split loans, top-ups and flexible repayment options such as switching to interest only payments.
CommBank My Property in NetBank and the CommBank app provides personalised property insights, allowing you to track and manage your property portfolio, explore your options and plan.
NAB placed third. It offers resources and products for property investors, including tailored home loans, investment solutions and tools for property research.
